Why Reading Is Back

Reading has made a comeback in the past 2-3 years. The last time reading was this popular was around the time The Hunger Games or Divergent came out. TikTok, a popular social media app, has single handedly caused a huge influx in book sales and the number of readers. This app has allowed individuals a space to discuss literature and reading. Books reviews and recommendations are some types of posts you see on social media now. Book Instagram's have always been a thing, but the resurgence and the increase in popularity cannot be denied. While many, like me, argue that reading never went away, there is no denying TikTok's impact on reading, good or bad!

After watching a well-detailed YouTube video that explains the whole situation, I needed to spread the word on my blog. Banned Books to Read

   Author: Gabriela Santos Banning books has been a thing since 1637. Matthew Taub published,  New English Canaan,  and it was banned because of its controversial contents regarding politics. The concept of banning books has been scrutinized by many and with good reason. Books being banned for topics like racism, homophobia, critiques of the government, sexual violence, and many more. This is censorship. Books like Beloved  by Toni Morrison have been banned due to its discussion of slavery and racism. A book like Beloved  being banned is simply unethical and takes away educational and societal knowledge and information.
